Here are some websites I think you should visit:
Here is a list of good software (all free / open source, no shareware or spyware etc)
- Cam Studio - best screen recorder by far, no annoying watermarks or any other rubbish
-
7-zip - the best archive tool (things like .zip). Lets you work with a lot of archive types, notably .rar which means you don't have to get winrar and all it's adware >_< -
Open Office - brilliant clone of MS office, can even open MS office files and export to them -
Dev C++ - very good C++ IDE for beginners (and infact, its fine for anyone) -
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - excellent graphics program that is a fine alternate to Photoshop (I made my wallpapers in GIMP)
OK, you might have trouble finding the actual download link for some of the open source programs; Linux people always post about 500 varieties of the source code prior to the compiled program, but keep looking because you will find it eventually.
If you are using Microsoft internet explorer, try an alternate such as Firefox or Opare. I suggest firefox, mainly because it feels faster (though actually it's the same smeed as Opera). But I have both and go through different phases of browser usage. If you prefer Internet Explorer (somehow) and still use Internet Explorer 6, upgrade to 7 because it is a little less bad.
